Safety Features of the 2012 Honda Crosstour

The Honda Crosstour is a midsize wagon-crossover hybrid based on the chassis of Honda’s top-selling Accord family sedan. The Crosstour, like the Accord, is a safe and secure vehicle with advanced active safety features to help prevent a collision. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash testing, the Crosstour received the top rating of “Good” in front, rear and side impact tests and a “Marginal” rating in rollover roof strength testing.

All Crosstour trim levels come standard with traction control and Honda’s Vehicle Stability Assist system, made even more effective with the optional addition of the Japanese brand’s excellent Real Time All-Wheel Drive platform. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution technology ensure short and controlled stops, with braking from 60 to 0 mph coming in 131 feet. A tire pressure monitoring system helps with peace of mind, though is not a substitute for regularly checking tire pressure levels.

The Crosstour comes with six airbags: front driver and passenger airbags, head curtain airbags covering both rows and front seat-mounted side impact airbags for both driver and passenger. For the passenger-side front and side-impact airbags, an occupant sensing system prevents deployment if a small child or no passenger is present. Active head restraints pivot forward when a crash is imminent, cradling the head and neck to help prevent injuries.

Honda’s patented Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure creates linkages between front chassis and body components to better distribute collision forces. This not only can help prevent injuries to occupants, but helps protect expensive powertrain components as well. The Crosstour comes with LATCH child seat anchors at the two rear outboard positions.

While there are more-spacious wagons and crossovers at this price point, the Crosstour’s car-like handling and strong complement of safety features make it a compelling choice for families. Check out the all new 2012 Honda Crosstour by visiting Honda of Pasadena at http://www.hondaofpasadena.com/.
