The newly redesigned 2013 Honda Accord Coupe has earned the highest available 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Accord Coupe is the only vehicle in its class to earn a NHTSA 5-Star overall vehicle score and the Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Accord Coupe earned the 5-Star overall ratings by garnering high scores in each seating position, frontal, side barrier, and side-pole crash test categories, and rollover testing. The 2013 Accord is the only car in its class to earn a GOOD rating in the new “small overlap frontal crash test” designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or object such as a pole or tree at high speeds.

Beginning with the 2013 Honda Accord, Honda is applying the second generation of the Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure to its models. This reinforced frontal structure further enhances frontal crash energy management through a wider range of offset and oblique collision modes.

The 2013 Honda Accord will also feature new standard and available safety and visibility technologies in Accord models such as Back-Up Camera, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane watch to help increase driver awareness of vehicle surroundings. In addition the accord will feature dual-stage, multiple threshold front airbags, and SmartVent side airbags to help mitigate the risk of injury to occupants.
